Seminar paper from the year 2015 in the subject History - Basics, National University of Malaysia, course: History, language: English, abstract: On 17 June 1973, the new Singapore ambassador to Japan, Wee Mon Cheng expressed his hope to encourage the Japanese people to invest and divert their modern technology to Singapore. He will also encourage the Japanese people to buy light company goods made in Singapore. In January 1975, Singapore's ambassador to Japan, Cheng Wee Moon described the year 1975 as an important year for Japanese investors to invest in Singapore. The worldwide economic downturn brings new opportunities for the development and restructuring of companies in Singapore. With that the Japanese businessmen and companies should take this opportunity to develop together a strong company for mutual benefits. They should be prepared to feel the benefit when world economic activity and opportunities in the Southeast Asian region live again. The world market scenario has caused many workers in Singapore discharged from factories that use a lot of labor, such as electronics, timber and garments which takes half of Singapore's labor force. Because they are young, they have become a useful source of labor and can be trained by new factories.<br /><br />As the founder of Gold Eagle Company and owner of DUQI Book Store, Dr. Uqbah Iqbal was born in the United States and emigrated to Malaysia at the age of six. Winning Second Place in Malaysian Historical Essay Writing Competition 2013, he was the recipient of Research University Fellowship Scheme from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, MyBrain 15 (MyPhD) Postgraduate Scholarship Programme from Ministry of Education Malaysia, Graduate on Time Award and Outstanding Student Award from Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia as well as the Youngest Ph.D. in History Holder and the only Malaysian achieved a Ph.D. in History in conjunction with the 43rd Convocation of Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. He's authoring 66 books/ebooks, the top 5 are Isu Pelarian Rohingya, Sejarah Penubuhan Malayan Union, The Historical Development of Japanese Investment in Malaysia (1910-2003), The Historical Development of British Investment in Malaya Before the Second World War and The Historical Formation Idea of the Greater East Asia Co-Prosperity Sphere. His 170 articles appeared in international and national journals, the top 5 are Opinion on SSKM and Sabah Country Myth, Look-To-The-East Idea in Fajar Asia Magazine, Glimpses of Our Merdeka, The Indispensable Guide for Expatriats: Holland Handbook and Sejarah Perkembangan Ekonomi Semenanjung Tanah Melayu Dan Sifat Ekonomi Masyarakat Melayu Era Pra-Kolonial. He's joining the editorial board of 75 journals, became a reviewer for 194 journals and 10 book publishing companies/book websites. Until now, he has published 310 publications as well as rate 1,310 submissions for WEBook and reviewed 1,202 manuscripts and articles for journals and conferences. Through his involvement as a reviewer with the Nonfiction Authors Association, 6 of his reviewed books received 2 Gold, 2 Silver and 2 Bronze Awards. By 2016, 67 Journals and 2 Conferences recognized him as one of the Best Social Scientist, Reviewer, Author, Researcher, Editor, Reviewer Board Member and Editorial Board Member and 37 of his articles get appreciation. OMICS Publishing Group recognized him as a Valuable Author, Editor and Reviewer under Management Journals Category. . He is the First Malaysian Historian that has his own 3 special issue journals, most journal articles and considers himself as the last Malaysian historian from his generation.
